External insulation industry friends attention to it, chemical giant BASF Neopor® upgrade in the Chinese market using proprietary polymer flame retardant.
Fire and upgrade environmental performance has been improved, has been listed in China, Europe, Korea and the United States market
The new flame instead of the previous HBCD
Power saving building development
Shanghai, China - June 2, 2016 - BASF has pioneered the use PolyFR new flame retardant expandable polystyrene (EPS) material portfolio. Silver-gray Neopor® series of energy-efficient containing graphite particles using only plastic-like polymer flame retardant PolyFR instead of the previous six HBCD (HBCD), so its environmental performance increased dramatically.
Since the end of 2015, BASF began in Europe, the US and South Korea to upgrade to the new Neopor containing flame retardants. BASF recently in China also completed upgrades. After upgrading fire safety and environmental performance of Neopor quality has been recognized by Chinese and global markets. Neopor is applied to a plurality of external insulation materials in large construction projects, such as Xining, Qinghai Existing Building Energy Saving Project and yangjiazhai protect the housing project, a total of 240 residential buildings using Neopor upgraded. In addition, Tianjin Dagang West Metro more than 150 new homes also use this product.
Background: PolyMER and HBCD ban
According to "Chemicals Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of" Regulation (REACH) requirements, the EU came into effect in August 2015 prohibiting the use of HBCD flame retardants. In March 2016, UNEP and more will be listed as persistent organic pollutants (POP), the EU begins to implement this new classification standard. After years of development and testing, BASF switch to the new security retardants PolyFR. So far, toxicology and environmental impact used in place of other non-polymeric flame retardant HBCD's not been adequately studied.
Reliable supply
Although HBCD has been disabled, but a number of European EPS manufacturers successfully apply the exception clause, you can limit the use of HBCD for a limited period. However, BASF will not do. "PolyFR adequate supply of fire retardant, so no need to apply the exception clause." Giorgio Greening, senior vice president of BASF styrene polymer foam business unit explained. However, due to HBCD containing products are classified as POP, it must be clearly identified. From the end of 2014, many companies, including Germany's rigid foam Industry Association (IVH) member companies had switched to PolyFR flame retardants in EPS products.
Meet energy-saving building development
With the introduction of the use of PolyFR flame retardant polystyrene foam, insulation BASF remains committed to providing eco-efficient solutions for sustainable building. In moving to a new flame, while BASF and customers a wide range of in-depth exchanges. Neopor have insulation performance, security, ease of processing, light weight and cost advantages, is the ideal insulation material industry. BASF thereby achieving global climate protection goals made important contributions
